Buddy Classes
All classes in the school are paired so that an older group of children works with a younger group at various times through the school year. All pupils have a buddy and they work together on a variety of activities from all Key Learning Areas. The key aims of the program are to develop interpersonal relationships, concepts of cooperation and school unity.
Counselling
We are in the Shoalhaven Community of Schools and our School Counsellor is shared between several district Schools. Children may be referred to the Counsellor through the Learning Support Team, or parents may request a referral for their child or themselves through their child's teacher or the Learning Support Team. Parents need to contact the office to make an appointment.
Support Programs
In addition to classroom teachers there are extra staff involved in the following programs:
Support Teacher Learning Assistance (STLA) - Support teachers
work with the class teacher to develop specific programs of
assistance for children.
Reading Recovery Teacher - provides individual tuition, giving
children another chance in reading. This program is only for
identified Year 1 children.
Student Leadership
The school is committed to providing all students with opportunities to experience and develop leadership and responsibility. Through our Student Leadership Program, all Year 6 students work in teams to discharge various leadership roles and responsibilities. All students K-6 are involved in opportunities throughout the school and in class to develop leadership skills, e.g. assembly leaders, class roles/ responsibilities, House leaders.
Banking
The Commonwealth Bank organises a banking service for children in Government Schools. Banking is not compulsory, but it is a good activity to encourage. Banking takes place on Tuesdays. Children place their bank book and money in specially provided banking bags and these are collected in the classroom and delivered to the office for receipting and banking.
World Vision
The school sponsors a child and during the year we have a mufti or other fundraising days to support her.
